Simmons Joins Times-Tribune Staff

July 25, 2018 --  Angela Simmons has joined the Troy Times-Tribune newsroom as a community reporter.
For the past three years Simmons has worked as a reporter for the O'Fallon Weekly, where she has covered straight news, features, and more.
Simmons graduated from UMSL with a BA in Sociology and spent a decade working in social services before taking some time off to stay home with her two young daughters, Skylar and Eden.
From her experience in college, Simmons knew that she enjoyed writing for newspapers, she said, and is looking forward to putting her experience to good use at the Times-Tribune.
In 2015, Simmons and her husband, Mike, moved their family to O'Fallon, where she joined the newspaper staff there and began providing coverage for O’Fallon, Shiloh and Lebanon.
“I truly enjoy getting out in the community and writing, and I’m looking forward to exploring the great communities that the Times-Tribune serves. If you see me out at an event, please come and say ‘hello,’ and please let me know what events and news are important to you,” Simmons said.
Simmons will cover the village of Marine, Tri-Township Library, and  other assigned news and feature stories in the area, as well as helping out with other newsroom functions.
"We're happy to have Angela on board," Times-Tribune Editor Steve Rensberry said. "Her experience with community journalism will be a real asset."
Readers can reach her or leave a message by calling our main office number at 618-667-3111. Her newsroom email is: times.tribune.reporter2@gmail.com
